The Rochester Historical Society is participating in the national Freedom Bells initiative — a coordinated bell tolling ceremony at noon on July 4 commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The 1872 church bell at the East Rochester Congregational Church museum has been oiled and prepared for the occasion.
